Letters of Evaluation Online

PDF format LEO Flier

LEO advertisement

LEO is a system through which you save and send your letters of evaluation/reference that you can use when applying to graduate or professional schools (i.e. medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, psychology, speech and hearing).

A maximum of 12 letters can be placed in your file.  Once a letter has been received, it cannot be removed from your file.  The cost to open a file is $40, which can be paid by cash, check, or credit card.

Connect and Create an Account

Go to LEO and follow the Log In link. You will be prompted to enter your Net ID and your bluestem password (your general UIUC password, not your email password), then you must agree to the terms and CONTINUE to create an account.

Alumni can open LEO accounts. If you still have your Net ID, then you may create an account online following the Log In link. If you do not have a Net ID any longer, then print off the forms on the Alumni page.

How to Use LEO

This file of letters CANNOT be used for employment, scholarship applications, including internships, externships, fellowships, loans and co-op programs. If you want to open an employment file, contact Educational Career Services.

In order to send letters from LEO to medical schools participating in the AMCAS pilot letters program, you MUST provide The Career Center with an AMCAS Letter Request Form so that we have your AMCAS ID number and your AMCAS Letter ID. Both of these numbers are necessary for AAMC to match your letters to your application. You can obtain your AMCAS Letter Request Form by completing the information in the “Letters of Evaluation” section of your application. For more information on how to complete this portion of the application, flyers are available at The Career Center or you can click here to view the flyer.

If you are applying for physical therapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy or physician assistant programs, we recommend you DO NOT use LEO. These programs have specific guidelines and forms for receiving letters of evaluation. Please check each school for specific application directions.
