Type of Position

This is a PAID part-time position requiring approximately 10 - 12 hours per week. Starting date is as soon as possible. 

Description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious intern who will help strengthen our brand presence -  online, throughout the Illinois community, and across multiple social media platforms. In addition, our intern will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with digital communications and web efforts for The Career Center. This is a great opportunity to build your professional portfolio while gaining valuable work experience!

Graduate students with knowledge and experience of social media who are looking for a great, part-time position are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties

  • Promote The Career Center and Career Center events through digital advertising campaigns, social media, and web.
  • Create engaging and relevant content to be distributed across various digital and social media platforms.
  • Maintain The Career Center’s online presence and increase student engagement through social media and digital advertising.
  • Develop, update, and manage The Career Center’s editorial social media calendar.   
  • Organize, arrange, and create content for The Career Center’s weekly e-newsletter. 
  • Manage digital promotion requests from The Career Center staff.
  • Create and strengthen relationships with campus partners through digital cross promotion of their career related events and services.  
  • Arrange and develop content to be promoted on The Career Center’s digital monitors. 
  • Help explore new social media platforms to stay current, relevant, and engaging.
  • Attend weekly Marketing Team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Marketing. 

Requirements

  • At least junior standing as of Fall 2017. Graduate students strongly encouraged to apply. 
  • Open to all majors
  • Experience related to marketing, social media, website, advertising, promotions and communications
  • Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Available to work 10 – 15 hours per week

Skills

  • Ability to write content for multiple platforms (social media, website, digital communications)
  • Experience or working knowledge of Hootsuite to schedule and manage social media posts preferred, but not required.  
  • Experience and knowledge of digital marketing and advertising and creative development preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to manage, organize and take lead on projects.
  • Ability to actively manage and complete tasks independently and on-time.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and a positive can-do attitude.

Compensation

This position is paid hourly, commensurate with educational background and experience.
