What is Career Drop-in Advising (CDA)?
During Career Drop-in Advising, students meet with a Graduate Assistant (or sometimes a Career Coach) for 10-15 minutes to discuss quick career-related questions related to searching for jobs, editing a resume, cover letter or LinkedIn profile, picking a career path, interviewing tips, considering job offers, negotiating salary, and almost anything else career-related!
Career Drop-in Advising: No Appointment Necessary!
Show up at The Career Center during the service hours listed and check in-- Students are seen in the order in which they arrive.
Who will I meet with during Career Drop-in Advising?
Our Pre-Professional Graduate Assistants come primarily from programs like Labor and Employment Relations or Education Policy, Organization and Leadership. They have received many hours of training in career coaching and shadowed our Career Coaches in drop-ins and coaching appointments, and are excited to help you along your career path.
Sometimes, Career Coaches will also staff the Drop-in Desk. The schedule rotates and changes each semester.
You do not need to bring anything specific.
If it will be helpful to you, you may wish to bring a notebook or laptop to take notes on the topics discussed. If you desire a review of a document, such as a resume, bring a printed copy.
Our coaches will assist you with any career-related concerns by connecting you to relevant resources and accurate information. During these 10-15 minute appointments, you might learn about resources for finding an internship, strategies for choosing a major, or tips for an upcoming interview.
We offer virtual or phone Career Coaching advising meetings by appointment. See our Career Coaching page for more details and to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
